An eating disorder is not ALSO a mental thing, it IS a mental disorder...
If a person starves themselves you'd have to question why they were doing it. For example if it was for a religious or political cause then it wouldnt be considered a mental disorder. If it was to remain at an unhealthy weight, it would be a mental disorder...
As for the second one, yes it would be a disorder, but it wouldnt be an eating disorder, maybe a body image disorder of some kind (BDD?). If the person is scared and feels out of control then quite obviously there's a problem...
anytime a person starves themselves of proper nourishments, there is an underlying mental problem, and I think depression would be the answer to your second question
***what if there is someone who doesnt have a mental problem but they starv themselves?***
If they 'starve themselves' that means they DO have a mental problem.
there the same thing
when someone goes to extreems to loose weight
like not eating/starving themselves, avoiding foods, laxitives, throwing up, ect
they have a mental disorder
because they THINK thats its okay to do that to be skinny
when most of them are perfectly healthy or underweight, are doing seriouse damade to there bodies without even realising it, and loosing unseccessary weight
that kind of thinking isnt right
but things like the media, fashion magazines, celebrities, models, ect portray a rediculous, unreachable and unrealistic veiw of what a person should look like
when people constantly compare themselves to thos things, or constantly think there fat or think about there weight
they have a mental and eating disorder
those people need help, and they need to re-think the way they see there body and body-image in general

Is there a problem?
Just about eating disorders. Everyone says that eating disorders is also a mental thing.
What if there is someone who doesnt have a mental problem but they starv themselves?
Is that I disorder or something, or is that just someone who starves themselves?
And what about the opposite way around?
What if someone has the mind of someone who has an eating disorder, like thinks they are fat and is scared of food, and feels out of control, but they most of the time do not starve themselves??
Is there a name for that? Would this person have a problem?
If that makes sence?
