is the world almost over, because my science teacher said so. also he said if we arent on mars by 2012 we'll die on earth

They say its going to end in 2012, but only god knows when its going to end. they have been trying to predict the end for years and are always wrong, god even says, no human will know, he doesn't even know, when he decides its time, its time. =]

lol you might want to get a new science teacher.. There are actually other planets in other star systems that are waay more earthlike than mars... and hopefully the world dont end in 2012, I really hope not... I've heard it as well. Google the year 2012, see if you can find information on wikipedia it's very helpful.

The speculation behind the end of the world on 2012, is because the mayan calendar ends there. I highly doubt the world will end in 4 years. Your science teacher is an idiot, and if he believes it true, I'd ask him to prove it. Afterall, science is the art of proving and disproving theories based on facts.

As for the comment about the solar systems, and planets and such. Mars -was- better suited for life, they've found evidence of what used to (potentially) be running streams, possibly even life forms (algae, bacteria, etc.). It looks like Mars used to be a living planet, but now has died.

I'm more interested in seeing the advances in space study.. I'm not worried life will just stop, unless the sun melts us. But.. we're 3rd in line, we'll know in plenty of time beforehand if it happens.

I heard that too. if it is true im mad scared because ill be 18. and I still have a long life to live. there is a book by sylvia brown called prophicies in it she givess all thses dates about everything and no were in her book does it say the world is gunna end. in it it does say in the 2012 or something a astroid is gunna be heading are way and either jupitor is gunna block it or it is gunna hit earth but not caused damage it is gunna be small or something. oo by the way she is a phyic. No knows when the world is going to end except God. So if you wake up one night and fire is raining down the sky and you hear trumpets Um... YEAH the world is ending and all the people who died and did right will rise up and go with Jesus and all who did wrong will stay in there grave until eternity. FYI the end of the mayan calendar was never said to be the end of the world, but just a significant event. People just assumed the worst because humans are panic ridden creatures
