You're only as protected from pregnancy as your highest effectiveness of the methods you're using.
If you are using a hormonal method (the pill, the patch, the shot) and you are using perfect use then the effectiveness is 99.9%. The condom is only about 80%. So if you're using both, you're still 99.9% protected. If the condom fails, you're still protected from pregnancy (not stds).
So in my opinion whats the point of using a condom if you're in a monogamous long term std free relationship? It's the whole point of the hormonal option - so you can have sex without getting pregnant!

nothing is 100% effective, exept of course no sex
while the patch is very effective, its not against things like stds
but with the patch and the condom combined, youd be pretty safe
and there wouldnt be a need to worry much
if the patch failed, youd be wearing the condom
if the condom broke, youd be wearing the patch
nothings 100% but shes already taken a step in the right direction for preventing unwanted pregnancy
you could do your half if you wanted to by keeping yourself safe as well if you want to
From their website:
Ongoing studies suggest the birth control patch may be as effective as the birth control pill. That means that about 5 to 8 out of 100 couples will have an unintended pregnancy during the first year of use. Of course, the chance of getting pregnant depends on whether you use the patch correctly. Delaying or missing a weekly application or removing a patch too early reduces its effectiveness and increases the chance a girl will become pregnant.
For girls who weigh more than 198 pounds (90 kilograms), the contraceptive patch may be less effective in preventing pregnancy.
