Is seventh day adventist a cult

Hi. I'm just wondering if my religion is a cult or not. Some people say it is and some don't I know that the churches in usa wont let their members wear jewelery but my church does. Is what ellen white said true?

If you feel in any way like its a cult maybe you should find a new church. Its a horrible feeling to feel like someones trying to control you.

Some religions are considered to be a cult simply because they have standards that they ASK their members to live up to. I believe that the true church of God is a church that is set apart from the world and how the world appears. Deuteronomy 14:2 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth. Peculiar = Unusual, Abnormal, Uncharacteristic. We are called to be different.

Now I'm not saying that some churches don't take it to far or use the Bible to back up things that are simply not true. Example: Slavery: Ephesians 6:5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;. If that was taken out of context and quoted to someone who didn't know what the times were like when it was written it was a great defense toward slavery. However at the time this text was written those servants weren't slaves and were serving voluntarily.

I am a sevventh day adventist myself at my church some people do wear jewelery however this is not upto what ellen white says and wether it is true or not? anyway, what I am trying to say is that it is not THE CHURCH'S DECISION EITHER to stop people from wearing jewelery because it's already burned within the holy writing of the holy bibleI WILL TRY TO FIND OUT THE VERSE AND PASS IT ON TO YOU. Any religion that is based on faith is a cult.

I myself am a SDA and at times, I have wondered if It was a cult. Of course, we are taught that we arent suppose to wear jewelry and that we are not suppose to eat pork and that we arent suppose to have pre-marital sex etc. BUT, the moment someone comes to church pregnant and they arent married, they are censored or dis-fellowshipped. I totally disagree with that. They throw the person out when they obviously needed the church family the most. Some of the doctrine I totally agree with and some of it does make me wonder. Does anyone else feel this way???

every religion is basically a cult. im seventh day adventist and yea we arnt suppose to eat prok and have pre-marital sex. never heard the jewlery thing before. but its not like your gunna go to hell if you do that stuff. your just not SUPPOSE to. god forgives. I don't know bout any other churchs but in mine you wont be 'dis-fellowshipped' if you come pregnant and not married.

I have a question for people. do you ever get like made fun of because you go to church on saturdays? I do.

and I am a Seventh-Day Adventist.
I do not believe that Seventh-Day Adventism
is a cult, people normally say that because they
think we follow Ellen White, no Jesus Christ.
Most of the people that call the Seventh-Day Adventist church a cult are normally ex-adventists... That tried to
find something wrong with the church. Sure, the church has guildlines and standards, but most churches do.

It's definitely not cult! They believe and apply the principles of the Bible. Some people don't understand them, that's why they say they are cult. It's the opposite. Most Christians today are not following the Bible, like we know is the SABBATH.Furthermore, ex-adventists, do not receive the latter rain, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. This means before they have baptized or after they have baptized, they don't really understand why not to eat pork, wear jewelries, keep the Sabbath, and many more. These prohibitions are done because SDAs are called to preach the Gospel in the Whole world, live a long life with vegetarianism-health consious, for it is needed for Christ' mission. Hope you understand.

yes! Its members have to accept ellen white's interpetation of the bible.

The seventh day adventists are defineatey not any sort of cult...actually they are down to earth Fact-finding, Bible-believing, God fearing, Jesus our savior, commited to the lord and a lover of no lies...they are not trying to get to heaven by their own efforts either by keeping the Sabbath--they just love the lord and wish to do his will...Hebrews 4;1 Let us therefore fear: lest a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it...Hebrews 4;2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
So Paul said it best when he said let us run the race with patience. Not Strife,,,God is a God of Peace, true peace that Jesus leaves with you, not as the world leaves you, because his kingdom is not of this world...
If you read all of Hebrews chapter 4 he spells it out about entering rest when a person dies...people that don't treat the blood of the covenant from Jesus God's son , as sacred and true and valuable they are in for a fall. In Genesis chapter 2;3 God santified the 7th day and made it holy,,,Who do you believe is the first and the last ? 1-7 creation was made, one week.In John1;1 In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.

Yes the Seventh day adventist are definantly a cult created by Ellen G white the false prophet who has had over 2000 visions by a an angel for her spirit guide. She has made many false prophecies which will and has immediatly deemed her a false prophet. Next they believe in soul sleep, Jesus being Michael the Archangel. Jesus did not finish his work on the cross but entered into the holy of holies in 1844, they believe Satan will ultimatly carry our sins when all is said and done. They teach that sunday is the mark of beast meaning if anyone goes to church on sunday they will recieve the mark of the beast. They believe that the sabbath is the seal of God and they believe that if you do not keep the sabbath your damned. They are a relgion of works mixed with little grace. They truely never come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ because they follow the law. Which is impossible. The SDA's are a deceptive cult and should be marked as one. They are no way Christian. They have strayed from the biblical foundation.
