Is sam fisher a ninja?

I believe that Sam Fisher is a ninja, but my friend dosen't. Think about it. He dresses in all black most of the time. He silently kills people.He has a pistol, but is that not like having throwing stars? He is like the modern day ninja. And I don't want any talk about Naruto in this!!! Naruto sucks!!!
