Is it too easy to become a cop?

No, I don't think cops are all a bunch of mean corrupt a-holes, because I don't do drugs. But it's rather obvious that there have been, are, and will be, a lot of mean a-holes that become cops, and then become corrupted with the power of the position.

So I was thinking, maybe it's too easy to become a cop. Shouldn't the process of becoming a police person weed out (or do a better job of weeding out) all the mean a-holes that'll become corrupt police people?

It's actually not easy to become a cop. My friend has been trying for the past 3 years to get on at an academy and finally did this year.

no it's not easy. Yes some let the power get to their head though. I had a friend that never done drugs in his life and failed the polygraph test when asked if he had ever smoked marijuana. kinda funny. but yes I had friends that have been trying to make it for a while now also.

They are not all mean! My brother is a cop and he is the nicest person in the world. They just take their jobs seriously! It's not easy to become a cop. 200 people can sign up and at the end there are usually only 25 peolpe that make it because the trainging is tough. They only let the people they KNOW can do it, become a cop.

hope I helped, xoxo

sorry I disagree, I know this guy who was a pathological liar, in debt up to his ears, he was dating a 17 year old girl, never took care of his financial responsibilities and some how made it in...hmmm...he could sell water to a fish and he sold himself to the acedemy. he worked on the force 6 months until they cought on that he was dating that 17 year old girl. they threw him out and made it legaly impossible to ever join or get a job doing that ever again...thats about the time I decided to divorce him

yea yknow, it really depends on the agency..
some agencies will hire almost anyone
and true, people manipulate those psych screenings,
as far as power trips? man they just don't like being disrespected at every turn.
cut them some slack
they don't get paid enough to be treated like sh*t.
