Is it safe?

Asked by fau 2 months ago, 2 answers.

Is it okay that I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend yesterday when I've only been taking birth control for a week? The package said I did not have to use a backup method (Such as condoms) if I started the pills on the first day of my period (Which I...

did).

I know it was stupid of me, but we got really into it and now I'm quite worried. I was just wondering if I'll be okay and what the risk of me getting pregnant would be even though the instructions on the package said it'd be alright without a backup.

No it's not 100% safe. Not entirely against pregnancy, and definitely not protecting against stds.

Nope, it's not safe. Birth control takes at least one month to become effective. You should re-read the literature that came with the Pill. Mine says to take it for 1-4 months before it's effective. Taking it for only a week doesn't do squat.

Wait and see if you miss your period, and then take a pregnancy test if you miss it. Use condoms until it's in your system...
