Is it possible to find my birth parents?

Well, I've always told myself that I never really had any interest in finding or meeting them. Years and years and years... no interest. But for whatever reason within the past week I've been, well, quite intrigued. The only problem is I don't know either of their names. I would ask my mom but she gets pretty touchy whenever I have brought it up in the past. I am moving back east in a few months.. and was hoping to at least meet one, if not both of them before I move. I know they are here in CA, but that's about all I know. Is there anything online? Do I need to hire someone? If so, I can't afford anything terribly expensive right now.

Thanks!

You CAN get their names through your birth certificate and start off by attempting to contact them through the government/ social security. ALSO. I would consider informing your parents first, because they could possibly know where they may be located too. :]

sarahhh,
I think you should try and talk to your mom about it a little bit at a time.
I think she will eventually understand how important it is to you. And I think you really should do everything you can to atleast get the chance to meet them. I'm sure they wonder everyday how their daughter turned out and if shes okay. It would give them security knowing that you are safe, and I'm sure they would love to see how beautiful you are.

...and if you don't have a copy of your birth certificate, you can order one from the state government where you were born.

Long story, my older sister was adopted, and when she grew up, she later had to track down my dad (but didn't track him down because she was lied to by her adoptive father & biological mother, my dad's first ex wife).

Anyway, I grew up knowing about her but she only knew about her half brothers & sisters, never about me or my older brother (her brothers by my dad, also her dad).

They finally spoke about 10 years ago, after she'd been out of his life for so long...but, because of the lies & things, they couldn't build a relationship.

And most days, I wonder if now that I have kids, if I shouldn't try to find her again (I exchanged letters with her once, when my dad got in touch).

So...point is: the sooner you do something about it, the more likely you'll have a chance to build some kind of relationship out of it, if that's what you're looking for.

Every time I've thought of the way my sister grew up, being lied to by her adoptive father & mom...well, I wouldn't wish that on anybody.
