Is it normal to eat like this?

Asked by fau 27 days ago, 5 answers.

I'm 16 and recently I've started eating a LOT. and ALL the time.., I know im not fat, but im afraid that my eating habit isn't healthy. I usually stay up really late and now I get hungry at around 1 am and I have to eat a meal before I can go to sleep...

because I get too hungry to sleep. This used to happen during my growth spurt, but that was when I was 14. Is it possible that I'm going through another growth thing or something?? Any advice on how I should change my eating habits, so it'll be healthier for me? I only eat when I'm hungry, but that's still like 6 good-sized meals a day... does anyone have any advice that'll help???

No it's not normal to eat like that.. 6 SMALL meals is normal. You have to stop eating at least 2 hours before you go to bed.. Also, eat shlt with fiber. it keeps you full for longer. If I were you I would write down EVERYTHING I eat, and the times I ate them. that way you can look back after a few days and see exactly what you're eating too much of, and how often.

Drink more water before you eat. The feeling that makes you thirsty is so weak it can be mistaken as hunger. Also, when you stay up you are more conscious and aware of your feelings. 8 hours without food is the longest stretch you go before eating again. When you are sleeping your body slows down. Your heartbeat goes from 18 beats a minute to 12 beats, and your breathing is more relaxed. Therefore, you don't burn as much calories and food lasts longer. Try eating a small snack and/or drinking a glass of milk/water before bed. And go to bed earlier, possibly at 10PM. Adjust yourself to this new routine slowly, also.
