I'm 18 nearly 19 and I've been going through the questions. Im becoming increasingly shocked by the number of girls aged 14 and 15 who are talking about having sex and getting engaged to their boyfriend who they love. I study law at uni and its...

statutary rape here in scotland if a guy has sex with a girl under 16. Is it the same in America? I'd like to know other peoples opinions on this as I am by no means naiive but I am somewhat horrified by this. Let me know your opinions

well in america its only considered rape if its forced... but the minors parents may also file rape reports, if say, the guy is 19 and the girl is 14, if their parents find out, they can file rape charges... and im 13 and still a vergin, I think that half of these girls are WAY too young too be havein sex, but thats how I feel

I think in most cases the girls and their boyfriend's are the same age or around in, it's only statutary rape if one of them is 18 or older. But technically it's against the law to have sex until your 16 but obviously not an enforced law.

see, in scotland its statutory rape even if the guy is under 16 too. a bit unfair that the guy is always to blame. and in a lot of what I've been readin the guys are two or three years older.

It's a sad world we live in now. I just found out that my girlfriend's sister lost her virginity to a 15 year-old boy (she's 17). When I was 15, I was thinking about video games and skateboarding. Don't know how things changed so much without me noticing it...

In my area, if a 15 year-old's parents find out that their child has been having sex, they can file a statutory rape case. The police are required to ask the child if the sex was consensual, and if the child says it was, then the police have to stop the investigation. I had to research it because my girl was still 17 when we decided to become sexually active, and I was 19. I was really surprised, though...

I Think its better if the girl just wait a little, I mean I was a bit mortified to find out how many teenagers have been having sex and have been doing things with their boys. at school, friends have talked to me about the same thing, it is horrible but I mean I guess its what they want to do, its their life.

I think it's really stupid, but they don't listen to anybody, so at the end of the day its their choice and their regrets happy xx

Teenager's are foolish and we can only let them be. Educating a child is a parent's task after all, needless to say, apparently parents aren't living up to the expectations.
Sucks we have to get used to such stupid events, but hey, what can you and I do about it?!
