Cum can actually be pretty detrimental to your health - since it could carry some nasty STDs/STIs.

But if the guy is clean then there is no bad health effects nor any real health benefits to swallowing. If the person is clean (free of STDS) then yes, its perfectly safe. But since you would have no way of knowing for sure if he was clean, you should always play it safe and use a condom...until you have been together for a long while.
