What do you miss about him?
I spent 18 very long months hung up on my ex- 25kgs later and facing the bottom of too many bottles. I had to do something... hell, anything to get over her. I thought about what it was that i really missed about her....sorry, my point is you have to way up what kind of guy he is. you said you wanted a relationship free of chains... so your both free to do your own things..... and he did! You see sex is a relationship especially if its regular, there are feelings involved you didnt want to have sex with anyone else because you care for him. he abused that and as harsh as it sounds once a cheater....
Anyhow thats only my opinion i hope it works for you. Maybe try the whole couple thing.... you tried the no bf/gf thing and your hurting now. Maybe give it a try

I miss him... I ended it and am kicking myself now bc I miss him. The thing is, it wasn't a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship (and no it wasn't a cut-buddy thing. We didn't want the whole boyfriend/girlfriend thing and avoided that.
Things started...
to get ugly after he apologetically told me that he had sex with some one else and recently found out that she was a whore (keep in mind that we were in an open relationship, but only had sex w/eachother...at that time, we weren't talking, but he still had sex w/someone else, knowing that he wasn't supposed to)!
I was really hurt but forgave him because I knew we cared about eachother and didn't have any chains on eachother-plus, I didn't want to have sex w/anyone else-I didn't want the partner count to pile up, and of course he's good.
