No, it's not illegal, however, a boy was killed in florida few years ago for playing this game. The homeowner felt threatened and shot the boy who stumbled to a neighbors yard before he collapsed dead. It's really not worth the risk. Also, you could be charged with trespassing and/or vandalism in some cases.
