Is it abuse?

Im a 17 year old and my parents hit me. but they dont do it very often just when I get them mad. I told afriend and he thinks its not normal what should I do?

NOT OKAY AT ALL. The next time they leave a mark on you, you should go the to police and be like looky what they did to me! You do NOT deserve it and you need to turn them in.

EVERY PARENTS HIT THEYRE CHILD ! ITS NOT CHILD ABUSE ONLY IF THEY HIT you REALY HARD OR MAKE you BLEED , BRAKE A BONE BUT IF THEY SLAP you OR HIT you WIT DA BELT ITS REALLY NOT I ACTUALY ASKED AN OFFICER ONCE ! GOOD LUCK

That's not child abuse. I think that only in America people think that. Im Jamaican and Irish and in my family its normal. There is nothing wrong with it. Its a form of them disciplining u. But your 17, like me, and I no I would get mad. But dont go to the point where u call the police. Thats not smart. You'll get over it. The last time my mom hit me was last year when I was 16, I was surely pissed. but I got over it.. you will be fine. Trust me. Feel better.

I don't think scolding a child by spanking them is abuse. Taking it to the next level is, and hitting out of rage or for no reason is abuse.

When I was bad I got a wooden paddle on my bare a$$ and I will tell you that I learned my lesson. however if I would have been hit in the face, brusies, bloody nose or hit for no reason, then yes that is abuse.
And the only advice I have good for you is stop doing things they don't approve of.

if there are scars or bruises then you should definitely call a helpline, but if it is not that serious, than talk to them, maybe make them a nice dinner and bring it up then, because if this is affecting you and your life then you should tell SOMEONE!

it does depend. if your parents just striahgt out hit you then thats not okay but if they spank you or some other way of punishment that is not harsh with cuts or bruises
