Is he too old for me?

I am 13 and the guy I like is 16. I am in love with him and he loves me. Everytime I see him or talk to him I get butterflies and I cant speak. We are perfect for eachother. The problem is my mom dosent want me around him. She liked him and thought he was a nice guy when we were just friends..but when she found out we liked eachother she totally changed her mind about him. She says he is too old for me,and he is a bad influence. He cuts himself and mom thinks that he will talk me into cutting myself too. I know he never would because he loves me but mom dosent see that. He would never ask me to do something I didnt want to do. My mom is driving us apart because she wont let me talk to him anymore. He wanted me to come see him at his house a few weeks ago..he was going to come pick me up and bring me home and everything...but mom wouldnt let me go. His dad was going to be there and everything so it is not like anything was going to happen. I dont know what to do..I love him but I respect my mom and her opinion. What should I do?

no I don't think hes to old for you. but I can also relate to everything you just said and I wish I had the perfect advice to give you but my situation went horribly wrong.

I guess maybe try re-introducing him to your mom.
if I had to do everything over again thats what I would have done and talk to her I dont think you should tell her that you love him just say something like you really like him.and try and agree with her about things tell her everything she wants to hear. tell her he would never make you do something that you didn't want to do.say you respect her opinions and understand were shes coming from. but ask if she can try and understand were your coming from as well.and just hang out with him when your moms around I know that sounds absolutely horrible but maybe if she can see that she an trust you and him together then maybe it might let her feel a little more comfortable.and maybe be more understanding its worth a shot right?

personally I think thats a little too old for a 13 year old... not because of the 3 year age gap but more because there is a serious maturity diffrence. I know that sounds stupid but it really makes adiffrnce.

 
I don't know whether he is too old for you but it doesn't sound like he is 'right' for you.

Listen to your mom. She really does have your best interests at heart.

He doesn't sound right for you because he has problems. Cutting is a sign of emotional problems. I don't think you should be required to deal with that type of a situation.
