she will do something called a pap smear ... or a physical .. they do a breast examination and swab the inside of you .. when they are done the send the swabs to the lab .. they check for any infections that you may or may not have .. the swabs can also determine why your period is so irregular

Uhm, the swabs do not help to check why your period is irregular, and they dont necessarily need to do a physical... odds are your hormones are off, and they'll put you on some kind of hormonal birth control to regulate them...

wait, I thought you were pregnant, why would you be getting your period if you were pregnant?

A gynaecologist is a doctor specialising in diseases/illnesses specific to women and mostly deal with problems with the reproductive system in women. They do STI testing, pap smears (to check to cervical cancer), breast cancer screening and are heavily involved in pregnancy, birth and miscarriages amoungst othet things. Be aware that it may be a male or female doctor. In fact I attended a gynae/obs conference and about 65% of the gynae's there were males.
They will most likely check that everything is fine and there's nothing cinical causing your 2week cycle, possibly check you fertility and they may take blood tests to check your hormone levels. They may take a pap sample to check for cervical cancer but I doubt they will do anymore than that unless you want to get tested for STIs while you're there.
They will then probably use either birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy to balance your hormones as this is most likely what is causing your abnormally short cycle.
Hope this helps x
