is ironing harmful to hair? how frequently its advisable?

nope...if you mean straightening it...I do it everyday!

yes, irons obvioulsy arnt meant for your hair
it will fry them, mke them weaker, and pretty much kill all the life and shine in your hair
it wouldnt be at all advisable to iron it, especially not with an older clothes iron
you could try straightening it
that too will ruin your hair, but its less likley as its not as hot, or dangerouse

it's quite harmfull, you can minimize it by using anti-heat protection spray before straightening.
