I thought it was Benjamin Franklin but I just wanted to make sure, so I wiki-ed it, turns out Václav Prokop Diviš 1750-1754 invented it in Europe and Ben Franklin invented it in America at the same time...

I think it's Benjamin Franklin, I'm not totally sure though. I mean, he did the kite and key experiment, right?
