ohhayy Asked by hailz23 11 months ago, 12 answers.

why is it that people wont let there children interracial date??
why do people blow it out of porportion and go all crazy and disclaim their children?
whats your opinion on it?
[I have no problem with it, I mean I am 16 but I perfer african americans,...

but my mother and grandparents refuse to let me date outside my race, they've done some pretty crazy stuff to prevent me from doing just that.]

I totally know what you mean! my boyfriend is african american. I honestly think I love him. he makes me so happy. my parents are fine with our relationship and they have met him many times and they get along great...the problem is my extended family. on christmas my cousin Jessica asked how my boyfriend was (shes the only one in the extended family that knows about him) and I said hes great, etc. but that only led to more questions that got to him being 17 while im 15 and him being african american. my parents stood up for me since I was being verbally attacked by my aunt at this point and we left early. the next day my dad had a nasty email from my aunt saying that we will no longer be welcome in her house as long as im with him. but like I said I love him and I wouldnt break up with him because of my family. some people just cant be reasoned with...but your family might be able to understand if you give them logical reasons why you want to date people of different races. good luck!!! and if you ever need to talk about it you can fun mail me ill be happy to help.

A lot of people just have different ideas and beliefs on what is right and wrong. Some people accept it, some look at it and automatically judge because of the difference.

To me, a person is a person regardless of their skin color. If you're happy dating them, go for it. I would do so.

Just a question, though. Have you asked your parents or grandparents why they feel that way? Perhaps they can explain their thoughts and opinions to you so that you can understand why they particularly don't agree with it if you ask them.

Good luck.

that really must have hurt for them to do that to you, you have all rgiths to stay with your boyfrann, I am happy for you(:
you are really lucky that you have the privledge by your parents

andd simplychallenging:
I have done that and they just said its wrong, and nastyy and it doesnt look right and children suffer, and they care about what others in the town would say, and they are always bringing up to me how I had stuff with african americans last year and always calling me a and word lover[I hate that word, I truly do] and I just wish they would accept it, and talking about it with them is out of the question, I have got threatened by them many times if I ever dated one again.

yea it did hurt but whatever they are not going to change for me or for anyone so im over it lol. but honey what do you mean they threatened you? it honestly is up to you to choose who you want to be with you only have two years until you can make those decisions by yourself. and if I were you I would take full advantage of that!

exacly- hes a person, not an african america person. many people aspecially older genertaions have old fashioned views on life. I think we're all in the same boat, the big wide world and we have to stick together. its underneath that counts not what coulor you are or even how you look. we're all the same inside

dont worry...im here for ya...but hun she cant do that after you turn 18. you'll be an adult and its considered harrassment. she could go to jail for even saying that. I know its hard, I've been there but it will get better. I have faith that it will. and just think...barrack obama is our president...our countries leader...hes african american...so why can we have an african american president but not and african american boyfriend??? lol

at this day and age many parents have a lot of stuff put in their heads from when they were kids. even though there are no longer slaves and everyone is suppose to be equal most white males even if they wont say it class themselves at a higher standard than black males same with white females. It's just how people are and one day it might be very common for blacks and whites to date and get married and such but its still not very common. Its sort of like a parakeet and a finch being boyfriend/girlfriend :D well not really but sort of how it is in a lot of peoples eyes. Your parents would rather see you with a white male and see a white child born than see you with a black guy and having a mixed child. Your family line will no longer be white. I don't know its lots of things.
