In love with my first cousin

I am in love with my dads brothers son. That makes us first cousins. I know how ethically/morally wrong that may be and the last thing I need right now is lecture from people. I am already feeling guilty about it

close from childhood. During my teen years, every guy I dated always seemed to be my second best...because I always had feelings for Neil. Today he returned from Australia after 8 years. We both are 23 now. However, after all these years our feelings for each other didnt change at all. Infact we have began to love each other more. We kissed for the first time and tears were rolling down our cheeks.

All my friends and families will be very mad at me if I told me the truth but letting Neil go is very hard too. Just give me some suggestion about what I can do now. It will make my final decision easier.

Forget about the presumed ethics and moral aspects - love is love, and if you love a person, then you love that person. And the world could do with more love.

The problem is more genetic (and legal): marriage between first cousins is against the law in many places because of the documented tendency for birth and other genetic defects when cousins have a baby together. That said, cousin-marriage is still a common practice in many countries, especially in the Asia.

So... I can't see why on earth you should feel guilty. But you could have problems if you two wanted to marry, or have a baby.

the only reason that it was banned for first cousins to marry is because it increases the chances of abnormalities when babies are born

It's nothing to feel ashamed of, I believe in my country it is even legal for first cousins to marry. (it is in fact in most countries in the world)

I agree with everyone too, just because the law doesnt allow it doesnt mean its wrong, why does it matter where he came from.

I had 2 first cousins that I knew were attracted to me. I never let myself go any further than fantasize because I knew in this country it is not as widely accepted as in other cultures. definitely I wont gonna lecture you because we actually shared the same problem! I should say that yup it is wrong ethically and figthing for it wouldnt just benefit you after all.
Youll just be unpeaceful but yup you could be happy and its so hard to control the feelings! I even cried a lot of times and break my sim cards just to erase him in my life. But he is making steps to see me and my memory restored his number so I can still call him back.
But really it takes a lot of courage and determination to do so.just think of you wont gonna be happy if all of your family wouldnt be happy for you. You cant even marry and worst if you got to have a child big chance of abnormality for the baby! That's one thing God put limits for this thing. We cant explain how and why it has to happen but it is us to choose if we will prolong such agony and live with it and face cons of this forbiden relationship.
