In love with my boyfriend

I'm in love with my best friend...and I don't know if I should tell him or not...the problem is that he broke up with his last girlfriend because they were having a long distance relationship and now he's leaving to study abroad for 4 months..(wich is not that much, thankfully). But I'm not sure how he would react and it scares me to lose hime more than anything in this world...but it hurts o bad to have this feeling locked inside..I wish I could just say aloud to everybody.
I have just told this to one of my best girl-friends and she told me to tell him about my feelings...that he would understand..but I don't know how to tell him or wich is the best way to tell him how I feel...
Please someone give me some advice!

he broke up just now he will be in no mood of another relation right now. again he is leaving for abroad so it will be again a distance relation. there are more chances of breaking love relations than a friendship in distance relationship. so be a good friend and show that you care and support him. maintain relation even when he is in abroad. after he comes back or when you are comfortable enough just tell him how you feel about him.

go great, hell say he likes you
go good, hell say he thinks he likes you
go okay
hell say he doesnt feel that way and likes you as a friend
go bad, hell say he doesnt feel that way and it can affect your freindship
go worse, it could affect your freindship pretty bad
...theres no way to know how hell take it
but youll never know unless you ask
just ask him if he likes you, if he says yes (go you!) but if he says no, tell him thats ok
were still great friends though?!

MY FRIEND HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM LAST YEAR!! iF YOU TELL HIM BEFORE HE LEAVES THERE IS HOPE HE WILL LIKE YOU BACK AS LONG AS YOU CALL HIM ALL THE TIME WHEN HE IS GONE. bUT HE MIGHT YHINK IT IS going to BE LIKE A LONG DISTANT RELATION SHIP AND MIGHT NOT WANT TO GO OUT WITH YOU. BUT IF YOU DONT TELL HIM BEFORE HE GOES AWAY HE MIGHT FIND SOME ONE ELS E WERE HE IS AT AND MAY STAY WITH HER FOR EVER
