In love with my best friend.

Shark Atack Asked by funadvice over 3 years ago, 3 answers.

So I've got some issues with my best friend. I'm a girl, and he's a guy so sometimes our friendship can get a little tricky. We've been the best of friends for about 7 years, and we've always kept it limited to our friendship; but for the past year I've...

started seriously crushing on him. I know everything about him and we get along so well, so it only makes sense to me that we should be together. He's dropped some hints in the past about really wanting to be with me, but neither of us have ever acted on it, in fact he seems to ignore our mutual feeling. However, if I go out with another guy he acts extremely jealous and sometimes gets angry with me. I don't understand how he can get jealous of me going out with someone else, if he doesn't take the opportunity to date me? I want to be with him, but I don't know how to make him realize it, and I can't just wait by his side forever. Any suggestions? Please help me with anything you can.

Before you go any farther, think about whether or not you want to risk losing your friendship him. Basically how important is your friendship with him? He might like you and want to be with you but don't want to risk the friendship or he make just see you as a friend and just don't think any guy is good enough for you. The only way you could find out is by asking him. But again think about your friendship first and if it may be awkard if you confess your feelings for him and he don't return them. And if there is a possibility that he may distance himself or even end the friendship if he doesn't feel the same way.

I had the same situation with my boyfriend before we started dating, and all I can say is if your guy friend has been dropping hints or acting jealous it's his way of telling you he feels the same way. But just like you, he's probably scared to put himself out there in risk of ruining the friendship if you don't feel the same way. You have to make it more obvious what you want, believe me I know it's a scary thing having to make the first move but it's worth a shot. You have to ask yourself, is the possibility of being more than friends worth maybe embarassing yourself? If it is, then the easiest thing is to say, I feel like we could be more than friends, but I'm not sure what you think about it. Not too pushy, and you get to know his reaction. good luck!
