Asked by babyontheway about 1 year ago, 4 answers.

I am 41weeks pregnant I have been on and off in labour for 3days now, I have had my internal exam and I am 1cm dialted, despite what my midwife says I am worried if this is normal to be having contractions and how long should it take now for me too...

How far are the contractions apart from each other already? When you're 1cm dialated you could actually be like that for days. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless contractions are closer together and/or your water breaks if it hasn't already. Once you get to a dialation of about 4+ then it goes faster.

My doctor told me to get to the hospital when my contractions were within five minutes of each other for two hours.

What happened with me and how my doctor told me I was in true labor is if when you get contractions if you get up and move around and they DO NOT subside then you are in labor! Try doing nipple stimulation I did that and had my son 12 hours laterhappy GOOD LUCK! If you don't continue to dialate I would see a doctor because same thing happened with my sister in law with both her kids and she had to go in and get induced. If you feel that something is wrong that you should be dialating more trust your instinct and go to the hospital it's your baby don't let anyone try and tell you to risk something you don't feel comfortable with!! OH yeah and Have intercourse and walk helped me BUT I SWEAR BY THE NIPPLE STIMULATION you have to use lotion and pinch them in a sucking motion as if you were breastfeeding hopefully you know what I mean anyway I continued this until I had continuous contractions and kept on until they wouldn't subside it took about 2 hours GOOD LUCK! write me in funmail if you have any questions ok
