Are you using iMovie 08?
If so, there is a glitch I found:
In iMovie ’08, you may find that you cannot drag movie files from the Media Browser's audio pane (as pictured below) into your iMovie Project or Event areas.
If this happens, choose File Import Movies. Then navigate to your movie to select it .
So basically use the File -- Import option and manually add it.

Imac movie help!!
So I´m on imac movie maker, just as I have a bzillion times before - but now for som f***ing odd reason when I want to move a videoclip to the end it just wont, I´m pulling and dragging the freakin mouse and it just stays there!!!
