Its classed as stealing if you don't get permission first to pay back later. If you do get pulled up over it you have to options, say nothing about your co worker or hand them over.

I think she's been malicious to report you yet does it all the time herself.

If you do get spoken to just apologise and explain that you were going to pay for it but that you have learnt your lesson and won't do it again.

The best thing to do is to work your butt off when you are there. If your manager sees you going out of your way to clean and keep busy then he will know you value your job. Also stop giving out free food. The kid you gave the free sandwich to does not seem to care if you have your job so you should not care if he eats.

I don't know about Subway but many stores and restraunts keep such careful inventory that any shortfalls are noticed. At this point even if you tell your boss your side of the story the manager may not believe you. I'd probably still tell him your story and hope he gives you the benefit of the doubt this time.

You have to be careful what you say and do around coworkers because they may try to use anythign they can to their advantage. I've had coworkers who immediately reported to my boss things I confided to them so you do have to be careful who you trust.

Even if your boss does accept your story he will probably watch you much closer at least for a while so if you value your job you should be a model employee until things blow over.

Good luck!
