Is it illegal to homeschool in spain?

Asked by bubsere 6 months ago, 1 answer.

Is it illegal to home school in spain? Well I moved to spain about 2 years ago now and I started in a spanish school but im finding the schooling dificult so I want to leave to go and do home schooling to do my GCSE's but one of my teachers said I couldnt not until I have finished school and if I leave now that its against the law is this true? And the way it works out here is that you have to repeat years and there is 4 years in high school and im in 2nd year so that puts me at 20 if I repeat each year before I can leave. What a waste of my life before I can start getting sorted!! If I dont pass 3rd and 4th year I dont get a qualification! so I could still leave school wih nothing at 20!!! So I was just wondering is it against the law like she said to do home schooling in spain??

I know that Spanish education is a very serious business. The Spanish kids I know at the international school here in Toulouse, France, work in English all day at school but then go home and follow more or less the full Spanish curriculum in the evenings and holidays with their parents.

You had better check carefully, because your teacher may be right. There are some ex-pats' websites that I've seen - if you go onto a Spanish ex-pats' website and ask this question then you're likely to find someone who has already encountered this problem, and knows the answers.

Very good luck.
