Are iud's safe?

Shark Atack Asked by funadvice over 2 years ago, 3 answers.

My girlfriend is getting an IUD and I would like to know is it safe enough to have sex without a condom or to ejaculate inside her with little risk of pregnancy. I have no problem wearing a condom but I was just curious. We are both STD free so thats not...

an issue.

Thanks

Well I think you should use a condom just to be completely safe.

no form of birth control is full proof there will always be a chance of pregnancy... my parents found out the hard way three kids all while being on birth control, in fact I'm the product of three forms of birth control, lol

Copper IUD's as they exist now are safe. Years ago there were some that were not safe, so do you really think that the companies would bring them back if the newer designs were NOT safe? They have been in use overseas for many years.
They are also very effective. 99.9 - 98% And they last from 1 year to 10 years depending on the type.

For comparison, the Pill is 99.9% effective if used perfectly (but is 92-97% effective in typical use - missed pills, improper storage, etc.)
