How can I be a great singer without proper lessons?

I have wanted to be a singer since I was tiny. But I havent had any proper lessons. My mates and most of my family say ime really good at singing, what could I do to improve or get noticed?

hey im a singer too and the way I got started is I did telent shows in school I joined music/choir class I joined choir at church that helped me a lot I learned how to read music too also I got a lot of practice then I just worded it to a lot of people that I sing then I opened up a myspace acct and started networking I put my pics up and noted I was a singer and befor you know I had producers contacting I also met others that sang and we ended up working together on songs now im working for yrrecords its a lot of work and you gotta be motivated and confident but its possable so go get it girl!!!...miss v

If you want to be a professional musician you need to study music not just singing. You need to know how to read music, understand music theory (scales, keys, etc). It is helpful to be able to play a bit of piano for composing and arranging.

Take any classes you can on piano, music theory, and singing at your high school or college.
