How much do tongue piercings hurt?

I really I mean really want to get my tongue peirced but im scared thats its going to hurt can anyone tell me if it hurts and how long do you have to wait to eat solid foods again?

I'm guessing that when someone grabs your tongue with a clamp and then slowly slides a large needle all the way through your tongue it's going to hurt like a...well, it would just hurt, put it that way. I've seen it done before, and if watching it done to someone else doesn't make you want to run away screaming...then maybe it IS for you. Good luck.

My friend had her tongue pierced and she said it didn't hurt at the time, but about 5 minutes later the pain kicked in! Her tongue swelled too. She ended up taking it out after a few days, had her lip done instead.

I think eating solid food depends on you, how fast you heal or how well your body reacts to piercings.

I think you'll be fine, a lot of people have them so it can't be unbearable! Talk to the piercer first - that's probably the best advice!

I wont say it does not hurts at all..I would say the pain is 1/10.Its bearable..And it definitely worth a try.For me,I go for liquid diet for the first few days..Maybe after 4-6 days you can try eating solid foods.I ate biscuit on the forth day..

Depends where you go. Call around to some local piercing places and you will find out the cost. Some people say it hurts, some don't. Depends on pain tolerence and whatnot.

it dosent hurt when you first get it but the next day it will hurt when it gets pieried it feel like when you bite your tongue. I think I waited 3 days before I ate solid food well I ate soup and eveything easy like that

Well I have my ongue pierced, and have had it pierced since april of 2007, and it really doesnt hurt at all. the only thing that might hurt you is if your tongue swells after...My tongue was swollen fr 3 days... eat lots of ice and ice cream things like that and avoid really hot and spicy food untill the swelling goes down...but yea hope this helped =]

I just got my tongue pierced on June 11th. It didn't even hurt the slightest bit, and I have not a lot of pain tolerance. I also have my nose pierced, and I had my belly button done. I found that your nose, and belly button hurt so much. and honestly ? biting your tongue hurts 20x worse, than actually getting it pierced. the next morning, the only thing that was sore on me was my lower jaw because I have to swish around this stuff my piercer told me to buy. but I advise you to get it, I love the piercing myself, and im glad I got it done ! I would also like to mention that you shouldn't have dairy for at least ten days. since dairy is a type of food that gathers bacteria, it can hide in your tongue, and actually cause infection more easier. I sucked on ice for six hours, and then I ended up freezing some grapes as well. suck on frozen grapes, and after they defrost, you can eat'em ! (:

have pierced my nose myself twice

I just got my tongue pierced a week ago. Getting it pierced did not hurt what so ever the healing process is the worst pain in the world you cant talk to much cause it hurts you cant smoke cigs without it hurting solid foods still cannot eat I live off water and applesauce I can deal with pain but many times I am so tempted to take it out.

I just got mine done yesterday and I really wanted to and the only part that hurt was when they put the barbel through the bottom of your tongue and I kinda got teary but other than that it didnt hurt

all they do is mark you tongue dn put a clamp over that mark and push aneedle thru...

you will feel a tiny pinch and den its done...

it don't hurt at all after that but it is realy uncomfortable..

I am able to eat solid foods now but in realy small bites...

also I clean it after everything I eat...

The piercing it self doesn't hurt, its a fast process. After the piercing you tongue will swell and feel bruised for a few days, that's the worst part of it all. I was scared to get mine done too, thinking that it would hurt really bad now I am happy I did it and that was just 3 days ago.

im geting my tounge pierced today and I seen a lot of video's on yotube of people geting their tounge pierced and it looks like it dont hurt at all ... yo count to 3 and you done and thats all ... its cool but sum people start to bleed bt not a lot and some people dont bleed ! .. sooo yea bu I hope I helped you get your scareness out because I did when I seen those video's =) wish me luck

I just got mine dont 3 days ago and it didnt hurt at all...it just hurt when I stood up to walk out I went to this place and I was freaking out and the guy calmed me down and made me feel comfortable and I got a free cleaning kit and free replacment ring they were great it still hurts a little to eat solid foods but I heard it takes about a week or two till its healed but I love it!! good luck
