I pierced my lip but.. i have a question

I pierced my lip and I just wanted to know because now it looks big and swollen and my friends look normal with just a dot on there lip so when will my swelling go down.?

the first rule of piercing is to always have a professional do it. go to walmart they have a solution for piercings apply it twice daily as for the swelling if it dont go down with the next 24-48 hours get thee to a doctor happy

Give it a couple of days it should be fine, put peroxide on it to clean it. I was told with when I got my tounge peirced not to have dairy so id do the same with the lip for a couple of dayz. Icing it will help the swelling 2.

my friend got his pierced a few weeks ago and he told me they told him it takes around 1 month to fully heal up and look all clean, but it probably is different for each person

^ agreed with all the others. I have snake bites there red and puffy but it will go away inless it wasnt profeshional or your ilergic to the silveR?

well you shouldnt have done it yourself
NEVER put peroxide on it
thats one of the stupidest things you could do, all it does is burn
the swelling should go down within 3 days
and it really depends on what you have in it
if its something stupid like a sewing needle or a safety pin
just take it out now
if its a surgical steel needle, then your should have put some jewelrey in it after you made the hole
so clearly you dont know what your doing
and should have went to a profesional
if you already have jewelrey in it (thats not an earring stud)
you cant change it for at least 3 months, wait for it to heal
if in doubt
just take it out
go to a profesional peircer and ask for there advice
or go to a doctor

junkyarddog is right. Rule #1 for piercings = NEVER do them yourself. It's plain stupid. ALWAYS get them done PROFESSIONALLY. Your best bet is to take the jewlery out, let it heal up and have it re-done professionally. If you have problems with infection, see a doctor.

why is everyone saying its not ok to pierce your own lip.I pierced my own lip last year and evrything is ok.no infection,the hole is big enough and I still have it and im still wearing my lip piercing!and I used a safety pin!geeezzz.im not like encouraging everyone to pierce their own lips.but im saying like its ok to pierce it if you know what you're doing.its not 100% wrong or stupid to do it yourself!
