The same thing happened to me a while back...just give it time and dont talk to him as much until you can do it without the first thing in your head being I need him. After like the first week then you will probably get better and chances are he might ask you out again. Just be patient.

Same thing happened to me 3 weeks ago... I didnt know what I was doing if I should completely move on or hold on cause he told me the same thing but he wants to be there for me... I just had to tell him how I feel and everything that I felt that I never told him even if I had the chance to tell him... I gave him my goodbye letter, with my necklace kept in this book where he wrote things to me.. and a day after he was running to my house to ask me if I want him back...
