I need a free antivurus for pc

right now I have spybot search and destroy, but I have some viruses that it wont destroy...is there a different antivirus that I should use that would be better for my computer?

avg works for me, I've heard and used bit defender it is good too.
doesnt hurt to pay for anti virus if your getting a lot.

AVG is a good free a/v. As well as Avast. IF you're going to pay for an anti-virus program let it be ESET NOD32. I absolutely love that a/v and swear by it.
