I'm embarassed to be an american, is that bad?

I saw one person posted a question, and I agreed. I think the WRONG people represent us over in other countries. Who think our country is doing us favors, when were really getting kicked in the face. I talk to people in other countries, and most American's annoying them or are very rude. My brother was so embarrassed to be an American so when he went to Poland he wore a Canadian flag on his backpack. Also, they think ALL AMERICANS ARE OVERWEIGHT which we all know isn't true, and the ones who are, make the skinny people unnoticed. Also their class is , well they have no class. I see them and I seriously want to punch them in the face. Is anyone else embasssed of this country?

You are 15, so obviously you do not understand a whole lot. Me and my Dad, my Grandpa, and My uncle Johnny, all served in combat operations in three wars. I am very proud American. And it looks like my National Guard unit is going again. If we come to the conclusion that this (very fit) 38 year old man is deployable, I may get a second combat tour in. So I will go again, off to another front, serving the Country that has provided for me and my family for generations, while citizens like you stand by and watch us on T.V. fighting to keep free the very Country you say you are embarrassed by. And, God forbid, We are attacked here on our shores I just hope there is enough un-embarrassed Americans left who are willing to fight and die for Her.

I am dating a good woman, who was born and raised in Germany. She is one of the most patriotic Americans I know, and she cannot even become a legal citizen. Her (and her family who still live in Germany), love The United States Of America. They do not forget the past. They know that in spite of the mistakes we have made, that America will always stand for what is right, and just. Gabriele's Grandma remembers vividly, our soldiers liberating Dachau, and Buchenwald. Talk is cheap, but you cannot erase the memory of our boys setting free a whole continent from the minds of those who witnessed it.

Do you really think France has forgot? How about Belgium?

In today's world; between the death tolls, and bombings, we read stories( usually buried towards the back of the paper), of a happy liberated people. Schools, and hospitals being built, and 5 million ink stained fingers. We also hear the reports of what life was like in Iraq under Husseins regime. We are still finding the tortured remains of young, innocent children. Torture chambers, evidence of mass killings carried out with weapons of mass destruction.

Will a free Iraq forget? I hope not. I hope they can remain free. Maybe someday in there hard fought future of freedom, a girl will post a question on a free web-site asking her fellow-countrymen 'I'm embarrassed to be an Iraqi, is that bad?'

All I can say is... if you are embarassed to be an American, get the funk out!!! Why do you live here if it's so dang bad? You should be ashamed of yourself and YES that is bad that you are embarassed. Americans cater to all the needs of people from other countries. We have spanish and english directions on EVERYTHING! There is a spanish speaking line, an asian speaking line and last of all there is an english speaking line at MCDONALDS!!! The English speaking line is the last dang line at the end of the counter and this is our country. Do you think they have that in Mexico? Probably NOT! We cater to them but nobody caters to us. Wow...embarassed.

and by the way... I'm an American and I am VERY classy.

you are exactly what is wrong with this country. I realize you are young and uninformed but maybe you should get informed before you decide how you feel. Americans are looked down upon by other countries because we help to many people that don't deserve it. Or don't appreciate it. But when the people talking shiit need us we don't hesitate to jump in and help. I feel we have enough things in our own country to worry about before we worry about everyone elses. But that is how we have always done it. Maybe it is time to start helping ourselves. And if it is so bad here why aren't the mexicans trying to keep us out? And Canada for that matter. Elect obama and watch it get worse.

You are young and haven't had a chance to really study American history and what America had done for the world. As you gain more knowledge, you will come to appreciate and respect America a lot more.

America may not be perfect but it is the best that the world has yet to offer.

I CANNOT GO ON AND 'GIT' BECAUSE IM ONLY 14 YEARS OLD there are so many better places such as England, France, Switzerland,Finland,Norway, and many more. Yeah, I'm 14 but I'm a very experienced one at that. The army, is like suicide, the 'War' in Iraq is not a war it is modern day imperialism. I feel like that... and sometimes I wish I was in canada... just because I dont want to be here... but then I think...theres not much you can do... who cares about what people look like.. we know not every one is obese. and if other countries think we are.. well then thats too bad for them...
