I like my friend more than a friend

Asked by tommiair 10 months ago, 1 answer.

Well, I'm a guy, 9th grade, never gone out on a date, never kissed a girl yet, regrettably. I've known this girl since 7th grade, and I've liked her since near the end of 8th. She's really awesome, and I just can't seem to get over her, especially since...

I see her everyday almost. I think we're pretty good friends, even though I wish we were more.

But I'm not the only one who likes her, a handful of my friends do, too, some of them even closer friends with her than I am. One of them is the guy who spends the most time with her, and she seems to like him the most. They chill after school just about everyday, and are always together at lunch. A few days ago, I really think I saw her kiss him on the cheek, but they didn't see me.

So now I'm also hearing they're going out finally, but when asked about it in front of me by someone else, she said they weren't going out yet. 'Yet' being the keyword, I'm afraid. My friend turns 16 this Friday, so I think they'll start going out pretty soon as he'll be able to drive.

I'm worried that if I don't tell her about my real feelings sooner or later, I won't get another chance. I mean, I'm happy for them, and I wish I could live with it, but I haven't been able to get past it so far. I really, REALLY wish that she'd return my feelings, but it's pretty unlikely that'll happen from the looks of it. I just want to tell her, at least, to get it off my chance. But I don't want to ruin our friendship either. I'm just really clueless, without any idea what would be the smartest thing to do. I might have a chance to tell her this Friday, as she's not going to his testosterone filled birthday party, and he didn't invite me, so we may hang out and work on a school project together.

Please, just any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated. The last thing I want to do is screw anything up or make the situation worse. :/
