I know this is in my mind

Shark Atack Asked by funadvice about 1 year ago, 5 answers.

I figured out why it bothers me with what my mom said. As you know the 99 cent store really does sell beautiful clothes. And as you know my mom as her final statement said: I did not even see the blouse all I saw was the collar sticking out. I even...

told you all your clothes are beautiful. But when she said the original comment: You know that the collar on the shell does not make it I took it to mean she was putting down the clothes I purchased. I know this is in my mind. Do you agree I read into her remarks - give details?

I think when your mum criticises your clothes, you take this to mean she is criticising you as a person along with your judgement.

You are worrying unduly over a matter that many others would not give a second thought to.

Are you a natural worrier or is it just over the clothes?

I think you have made a huge step forward by posting this question and becoming aware that your concerns may just be in your mind.

If you post more questions along these lines and ask members how they could assist you to work with this issue, I believe you will find that you receive far more advice than 'stacey' receives to her questions.

Well done for taking a huge step forward and recognising that you have an issue with this.

Some times you need to let something go before it becomes an obsession. . . Let it go voter. . Move on with your life, Dwelling on it is not healthy.

Everyone has different taste. Just because I tell my daughter I don't like something that she is wearing or wanting to buy does not mean that I am being mean. She asks for my opinion and I give it to her. Sometimes she listens and sometimes she doesn't. Do not over analyze things or what people say. Sometimes it is just simply a opinion and that is it. Good luck!

I agree with Kiasu. Sometimes you just have to step outside a particular situation and imagine that a friend has come to you with this problem. I too am very sensitive to negative remarks and often blow them out of proportion. When I see others handle comments I'm often astounded and amazed at how they let them bounce off, but I've learned to do that a lot myself now. It's never too late happy
