Goto a doctor, tell him your having anxiaty issues in your life, and need to get on something that will calm you down. Perhaps Paxil? a friend of mine says thats what he takes.
what anxiaty issues are you having?
Shortness of breath, panic attacks, full on panic attacks. ...
the hardest thing is to step into the docs office, and once you have done so and he gives you something, you will be so glad you did.
it sounds like you are feeling out of control and are trying to gain some control, Perhaps you need to figure out all those confused feelings that you have going on?
you know, talking to a therapist would be quite good for you .
It's a great thing that you have not just stayed inside yourself, alone, with this stuff- that you have come here, to us.
There is a lot of support in the world. I hope you find what you need- keep looking and asking till you do. Remember that everybody hurts- sometime, so don't be afraid to talk about what you are going through.
You can express whatever you like here, for us all to share- it will help others who have similar issues. Or, you can funmail me if you want to say some stuff that you are too afraid to tell anyone else or have on the internet for everyone to see- I have experienced a lot of difficult things myself - the worse things- and because I won't judge anything you say, you can talk honestly and perhaps I can offer something that will help you.
self harm is a sense of control when other parts of you life seem like you have none. you control the pain, and the consequences.blood etc
it's also about stress when the pressure becomes too much its a way of relieving the tension
sometimes it just to feel something.if your emotionally numb and feel dead inside then it's a way to feel, even if it pain
I did this for a long while and it becomes addicive in that its the only you believe you can cope with anything, and the only freedom of relief is when your bleeding.
it seems like an easy way to cope but it has dire consequences
the constant secrecy, alianation, trying to hide your wounds/scars. inability to connect to another human being because the only time your honest with yourself is when your cutting yourself.
also it tends to grow and suicidal thoughts become more and more appealing and seem like a natural progression
the best advice is the predictable boring kind but you need help from a doctor. maybe therapy or medication.
my therapist gave me breathing exercises that when the uncontrollable self rage starts, I can recognise it and calm myself down.
on a practical level
never cut yourself with anything thats dirty or rusty
keep antiseptic wipes for afterwards to prevent infection
finally keep the wound clean
if you can then talk someone even if its a friend. it's a lonely and shameful business and I remember how it feels. it's still my first instinct if I get upset but I can control it now
I wish the same for you
it's amazing cutting is quite addicting...seriously just try to find something else to do to keep you busy like pick up sports or hang out with friends more often...
if you want to talk about anything I'm totaly here.
I'm sorry if I don't know how addictive cutting is, or if it IS addictive, but I say, drop the habit by just NOT doing it. Don't consider don't think about it if you can. Start biting your nails, though I never found that addictive. Do excercises, though it may seem boring, it's quite distractive. Do it infront of TV or something, and if you're streching to make your mscles flexible (which is what you should do to distract you,) if it hurts, its making you helthier and more flexible.
Random answer eh?
Do it, its fun!
You can also try bubble gum or something, and if you're very worried, get help.
