parents stole my mail...I've already opened it and everything...they just took it out of my boxes....is there anything I can do to get them back....I mean I know it is a federal offense to take another persons mail without permission and then not give it back when they find out you have taken it....I turn 18 this week so I know my age is not going to be a problem...I dont know how to get my letters from my friend back...

Talk to your parents and see if you can get them to give it back to you.

It's a federal crime to steal mail. Report it to the postal service AND the local police. The faster you file the reports, more likely it is that you'll get your mail back. Make sure you don't like your family before you do that though, because they may end up in prison or with heavy fines. I normally prefer to keep family problems in the family, as soon as the government gets involved, you have no control over what happens next, so if you care for you family even the tiniest bit, I wouldn't report them. I'd find some other way to deal with the problem.

Tell them it is a federal offence and you should report it. Maybe it will scare them and, they might give it back.
