why is hydrogen alone when considered on the periodic table???

Do you mean, why is it the first element? It is because it's atomic weight is one, and it has a single proton in it's nucleus and a single electron in the atomic shell (electronic shell?) it's been a while since i took physics, so I might have some of terms wrong.
