How to treat a bad burn?

flower Asked by zorbot about 1 year ago, 2 answers.

My niece of two years old recently burned her hand with boiling soup. The burn is terrible, at least second degree, her hand is swollen and it looks like it may leave a scar. The doctor prescribed penicilin, liquid iode to disinfect and zinc oxyde cream...

to help heal and soothe. I was wondering if poeple with burn expereince could help me by telling me:
1-what did the doctor prescribe for the burn and how did you treat it?
2-what could help reduce scaring? Is vitamine e any good?
Thanks in advance, all advice is usefull and greatly appreciated.
