Depending on what the shelves are made of: if they are of wood, use turpentine, let it soak and begin peeling gently from one edge.
on metal shelves...try WD-40 which is a silicone oil, and often un 'sticks' the adhesive
backing on the contact paper. another solution is, provided the shelves are metal,
heat them in an oven to about 175 degrees farenheit, this is not real hot, but is hot enough to partially soften the old adhesive, and allow you to puul it away.
Wear oven mitts, or gloves, and take proper safety precautions. NOTE: If you have already tried the turpentine, or wd-40
do not put those pieces into the oven as it could combust!
