How to make my game go fast

I was playing this game that I recently installed and it was going extremely slow. What do I need to do to make it go fast?

Faster processor, more memory, stronger video card.

Check the box for recommended specs, it's always better to have the recommended, not just the required.

Either your system is underpowered for the game (check the RECOMMENDED specs for the game), or you have a LOT of programs running in the background (turn them off until you are done playing), or your system is loaded with ad ware which is slowing down your system (run Ad-aware, Spyware Blaster and Spybot: Search and Destroy; all three are freeware - recommend going to http://www.majorgeeks.com or http://www.download.com/windows to get them.)
