I've done that before. Using brown now won't work. For your hair to get lighter you can :

A. Bleach it. Just wash the bleach off when you see it turn brown. OR

B. Shampoo it 3 times a day. Hair dye comes off with the shampooing. (Just don't use color safe shampoo. You need the harsh kind to strip off the dye). You should see results within 3 weeks.

I would go with B.

don't want to sound like a cow but washing your hair 3 times a day will take the natural oils out of your hair. I would see a hair dresser. good luck darl

well, you COULD get light brown hair dye and use that on your hair, so that it will come out the dark brown you are looking for. I've done it to my hair plenty of times, and it always turns out dark brown when I use the light light brown hair dye.

MAKE SURE WHEN YOUR BUYING A BROWN DYE THAT THE LEVEL IS HIGHER IF YOU GET A LEVEL 4-5 IT'S GOING TO BE DARK LEVELS 1-10 1 BEING THE DARKEST AND 10 BEING THE LIGHTEST GET IT? AND MAKE SURE THE BASE COLOR IS A NATURAL BASE ! AND USE A LEVEL 30 DEVELOPER GO TO SALLY'S THEY'LL HELP YOU OUT AND MAKE SURE TO USE A LEAVE IN CONDITIONER DON'T OVER WASH YOUR HAIR EITHER THAT WILL STRIP THE NATURAL OILS AND IT CAN BE UGLY!!!

I dyed my hair black before, my sister did too... Heres what we did:...but they are both expensive!

1. I went to a salon she used some new shampoo she got and it washes out color... she had to do it a few times to get out the black. There was still a little bit in my hair, but I just got highlights and made it all blend. So she took the black out, did highlights cut my hair it all came out to like $150...not too bad!!

2. My sister got her hair STRIPPED at a salon! ONG I DO NOT suggest this! It was VERY expensive...like $300...and they warned her that it does a lot of damage that your hair can fall out!!! It took all the black out but her hair felt like STRAW for a while, and it was very delicate brittle!
... I think bleaching your hair would be pretty damaging too!!! ...watch out your hair doesnt fall out! I would go to a salon!!!

Color doesn't lighten color. You need to seek the help of a professional so that you don't melt off your hair or end up turning it bright orange or possible green. Youu will also ned to invesst in a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.
