Is there any possible way that you can block out a memory that has caused you a lot of depression. Just a way to make yourself forget things you dont wan to remember

No, I believe you can't just FORGET about it. But stop thinking so much about that one thing that depresses you... when you catch yourself thinking about it. Try to remember the last time you were 100% happy and focus on that... or think about the future... something to take your mind off of that. You might want to try just dealing with your emotions... I know somethings can hurt a lot ... but it will get worse if yo just "supress" it.

Other than a sharp blow to the head? No. I'm afraid you're stuck with it, and trust me, that little bigger is going to pop up again and again for YEARS to come. But the good news is twofold. First, the memory's prominence in your head is going to decrease every day that you live with it until eventually, it will seem pathetically unimportant when compared with everything else in your life. Second, by living with the pain and the depression, you will (I promise) be the stronger for it, and the next time a similar situation arises, you will be very, very glad you developed the coping skills to deal with it.

Do not take drugs, it just wrecks your head even further

Over time you will not think about it as much, but you will always remember it. Just tell yourself that you are/ have moved on and that was the past and you can not change it now.

Its just a fact of life.

Hope this helps

over time the memory will fade, but for now you're stuck with it. start thinking about other things and try to make GOOD memories to block out this bad one.

well first of all..
does this memory effect your every day life?
if it does..then thats going to be hard to fade away..
but keep your mind off the past, and keep it on the future. keep your mind busy with other things..
but evventually maybe this memory will fade, but just keep your mind busy with other stuff. but dont TRY to not think about it. that will make you think about it even more..if that makes sense..haha.
just say you've moved on and think of other things.

hmm..man thats really hard.
maybe if that person is always there..you can make good memories with that person..so that when you look at that person..you maybe see that depression, but then you are reminded that that person also gave you happy memories.
if that helps..

No. avoidance is a sure way to make sure that memory slaps you in the face down the road... You have to deal with whatever it is and come to terms with it before you can move on.

Face the issue. Face the person if they hurt you or at least work it out in your head. Get angry, sad, feel it. Read about it, talk to others online about it, open up. Admit it that it happened. Our experiences do not define us. We are who we are. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. There is even a good book out there. You need to work it out and eventually forgive no matter how horrific. When I say forgive I do not mean you are accepting the behavior of who or the event that hurt you, rather, you are releasing it. I have learned in the book The Secret, if you label something in your head to forget about it, the more you actually think about it because your brain constantly has to remind it self to forget about it. Face it and be strong, girl!!!
