How should I style my hair?

I have dark blonde hair that goes just past my shoulderblades, naturally curly. I want to cut it to my collar bone, but my mom doesn't want to let me, because she says it'll get poofy. I like straightening my hair, but I don't usually do it because it takes so long, and I want a shorter cut so I can straighten it more often. I've been growing my bangs out, so now if I can get them down all the way they cover my eyes, and I kind of want to change them. I'm thinking of dyeing my hair too (probably dark auburn), but I'm not sure if it would look good. Any suggestions for cut/color/style/etc.?
