The jobs are usually not so hot, but he should start with the Employment Department and speak with a counselor there. Then look for jobs with small businesses that are in the area (warehouses, trades, etc), and avoid the corporations that have policies that disqualify you before giving you a chance.
What does he do then if he isn't working? You must have the cleanest nicest house on the block. Make sure that he is motivated to find a job as well. If he gets discouraged then he needs to find a new way to find work, but he should never give up. There are jobs out there.
If the two of you are really looking for opportunities then perhaps you should move. Finding jobs as a felon is hard but not impossible.
I know someone who is a felon for a non violent crime. He has not had a problem finding a job. He was up front with the employer, and the employer didn't even care.

How's a supposed to live in Texas? If he's paid his debt to society, and has tried to take the right path in life...got married, and no more trouble...how is he supposed to make a life? Can't get any kind of job, can't get anything! Can't help his wife support the house or help with any bills, can't drive for 10 years, and there's no public transportation here at all! Wife has to work hard to make ends meet, and will soon lose the house. This is for real!! No wonder people end up back in jail! Can't someone please help my husband get a job here in arlington!
