How old were you when you started doing your own laundry?

I was watching Judge Judy today and she was saying how she made her kids start their own laundry at age 5, and I believe it because Judge Judy is strict. I think thats insane!
I'm almost 19-years-old and my mom still insists on doing my laundry because she said it saves laundry soap if all of our laundry is done at once, I obviously put it away and everything though.
How old were you when you started?

I'm 13, I started doing everyone's (not voluntarily!!! lol) at age 11. I still do it now. 5 is very strict!!!

haha lol. umm im 13 now and I do my laundry, but I started like last year! so yeah...but yeah, 5 is pretty young. could the kids even reach the buttons to start the washer?!

5 year olds are just learning how to sort their colors not measure the detergent, fabric softener, water amount and push those sky scraper high buttons! Plus, putting them into the dryer! They get heavy when they are wet!!! Folding, don`t get me started! They are 5 year olds! Let them be kids and not maids! I started when I was 11 but not because I chose too...thats a mom for ya!
