$200. You are just paying for the Ipod name though. Its made in China along with the other ones. It cost China about $5 to make one and you pay the rest just for the name

Actually, when the Nano was released someone took one apart and adding the lowest wholesale price they could find for each of the components came up with $90 for the parts. Of course Apple is very good at negotiating deals with supliers so it wouldn't suprise me if they managed to buy the parts for it cheaper but $5 is just silly.

It might be hard to find a 1st generation iPod. All I see in stores is the newer one.

I've been a long time Apple hater but I have to admit their iPods are nice products. I've owned 2 minis and a nano. I can play mp3s on my PDA and PSP but I do notice that my files sound better on my nano.

$90 for parts here. They are made of China trash and you really can put one together for $5 there. So the first gen and second run about $150 to 180. You might as well pay $200for the 8gb new Nano.

I bought my computer used and when I bought my new iPod I discovered that it wouldn't sinc with my iTunes version because the OS isn't an official copy ... that's sh*tty. So I returned it. I'm not sure why this makes me angry exactly. Not sure if it is because I feel guilty for not being angry with the person who sold me the computer.

anyway, now I want one of the original generations - that or 'F' the iPod I'll just buy from a company that doesn't want to nag me about the rest of my software. Nanny politics.
