I really think that you would have to break it down like this... If you make the tea yourself, you would use 3 or 4 family size tea bags to 1 gallon of water. Then you would put 2 cups of regular granulated sugar in your pitcher. Thus having 'Sweet Tea'. (That's how I make it). Now, take a bottle of Coke...I personally do not have a bottle to read off the ingredients, but it is not pure 'Sugar'. Not the same type of sugar that you would use for your 'Sweet Tea'. I do know that the main source of their 'Sugar' is High-Fructose Corn Syrup. I cannot begin to tell you what actually goes into a regular 2 liter bottle of Coke. What I can tell you though is that as a former 'seat-cover' for my boyfriend who is a truck driver, you need a HAZMAT endorsement on your license to haul the CHEMICALS that comprise soda. So, I hope that I have semi-answered your question.
Coke sugar content - hope this helps:

How many cups of sugar are in a 2 liter bottle of coke?
Send me Fun Mail
I had a discussion with a friend today over what had more sugar... a 2 liter bottle of Coke, or a gallon of sweet tea that has 2 cups of sugar in it...
Does anyone know which one has more sugar?
I know the calories for an 8 ounce serving is 100
The sodium grams are 35
The Sugar grams are 27
But how many cups of sugar would be in the Coke?
