As with most old dogs, he probably has cataract's...and most likely has had them for a long time, as it takes a long time for them to develop enough that you even notice them. Eventually, they can completely block vision...however, since dogs use their noses much like we use our eyes, they seem to get along very well, when they can't see. You just have to keep furniture and stuff in the same place so they don't get confused.
