Depends on the person. Everyone deals with it in different ways. Some people never recover. Some veterans become homeless because after coming home they can not readjust to mainstream civilian life. Others are able to move on. My dad was an MP in the Korean war and shot and killed one American soldier who was trying to kill him. Every time he talks about the war he mentions the incident so it seems to weigh heavily on his mind.
Most of the time soldiers don't know if the person they shot at died or not, and most of the time they DIDN'T die. Military firearms are designed to injure, not to kill, so unless they got a bullet directly to the head (which is unlikely unless you're a sniper) they're probably not dead anyway. That's not to say some soldiers haven't seen some shi*t, but war is a lot more civilized nowadays than it used to be.
As for murderers, they're just insane and usually feel no remorse. But most assassins just don't value human life I guess, for one reason or another.
Everyone's got it in them to kill. I'm not saying everyone feels like murdering someone at some point in their life, but given the right situation anyone can do it relatively easily.
some people take it harder than others. some never recover, some feel a numbess, some people I know feel nothing at all. it differs from person to person. I know others who get all messed up. imagine being in iraq, and a 10 yr is holding an ak 47, and aiming it at you or your fellow soldiers. what do you do? he his 10?as harsh as it it, you take him out of the equation. you do it because you are supposed to, it is your duty to protect yourself and your fellow soldiers. but you get all messed up because you have a 10yr old at home, or something like that. Its a hard job that not many people can do. but basically is depends on the person
You want to know something? I actually have killed someone LOL nah im just kidding. but seriously, what I think that goes through killers mind is a sense of relief.. Kind of the feeling people get when they're high, or drunk. they feel better and would then possibly get somewhat addicted for the pleasure of it.
But then some people might be psychotic and might feel that someone is threatening him/her that would cause the person to become violent and start to kill. Yes, they might feel guilty for doing it, but they would do it again if tempted to. but then again im only 15. what would I know?
How does a soldier feel after he has killed someone in the battle field
Well I can tell you this...before you go into battle, you look forward to killing. That may sound sick or strange to some people, but it's what you're trained to do if you become a soldier or a Marine or special forces.
It's not the taking of a life you think about. It's finding and destroying the enemy that you look forward to.
I never felt bad about doing this, and I spent 15 months in Iraq doing it. But that's me. Some guys went through a lot of trauma, others felt excited about it. It just depends on the person.
It felt terrible for the longest time. I wont go into the specifics but I had the most deranged and terrifying nightmares about two months after the act. When I had to do it the second time I lost any connection with reality and eventually tried to hang myself. I don't feel much better today.
